The snowball secret to fitness

The festive season is upon us. Office parties, dark mornings, catching up on last minute paperwork before the seasonal holidays, this can all conspire to take the edge off even those most dedicated to fitness, while others simply welcome the chance of a break.

It’s a time when we quite rightly make merry, eating and drinking as we celebrate the many seasonal festivities. However, as this also increases the fitness challenges for the New Year, it’s a natural moment to evaluate the year gone by, assessing the pluses and minuses in our training routines, progress across the seasons and plans for 2018.

Mirror, mirror on the wall…

Allow the mirror to help you determine what you want to work toward achieving from your 2018 exercise routine. Bear in mind that genuine physical achievement requires:

  • focus
  • consistency
  • dedication
  • determination
  • time and patience
  • and even a little courage

So, take a breath and enjoy the break! Return focused so as not to be easy prey for a new fad or vulnerable to marketing nonsense peddled to New Year fitness hopefuls keen to shed those extra holiday pounds and become an Adonis or Venus in just a matter of weeks.

Fitness: the secret snowball strategy for 2018

Stress not. Don’t worry about targets, just set the right routine that will deliver increasing results the longer and harder you work at it. Think of it as your snowball strategy. Let your desire and vision drive you, not unrealistic goals. There will be a time, probably sooner than you think, when you will look back and appreciate what you will have accomplished. And if at any time you feel fear or doubt creep in, revisit the vision, let it inspire the desire and you will stick to the routine. All it requires is a little faith, persistence and patience.

Harnessing the most powerful force in the universe

It’s said that when Einstein was asked “What’s the most powerful force in the universe?” he answered, “Compound Interest.” There is only so much anyone can do in any single session, but if you plug away at it on a daily, weekly and monthly basis, the cumulative effect will be extraordinary. So just mimic a little snowball starting to roll down a hill. Settle on your 2018 routine, push yourself harder each day and watch those results snowball right through the year!
